Trails Master Plan

Trails Master Plan
Welcome to the City of San Jacinto’s webpage for the San Jacinto Trails Master Plan. Through funding from a Sustainable Communities Grant awarded by the State of California Department of Transportation, along with the use of Development Impact Fees, local cash match and by third party in-kind matching, the City developed a Trails Master Plan.

Nestled against the Lakeview Mountains and the foothills of Mt. San Jacinto, the San Jacinto Valley is abundant with scenic vistas and natural resources including a 10,000 acre San Jacinto Wildlife Area, Mystic Lake, and Potrero Creek Conservation Unit, and the Historic De Anza Trail along the San Jacinto River. San Jacinto’s terrain is relatively flat, making it an ideal destination for street and mountain bike cycling, walking, hiking and horseback riding. The proposed Trails Master Plan would identify opportunities to connect these trails to parks, schools and neighborhoods.

San Jacinto’s Trails Master Plan provides a strategic framework for the future development of a fully connected, multi-use, non-motorized trails network. Planning efforts focused on improved safety for travelers; ensured equitable transportation options for all ages and ability; increased access to public transit, schools, employment, and City amenities, as well as improving public health and residents’ overall quality of life. The San Jacinto Trails Master Plan expresses the vision and culture of this growing community; aligns with regional non-motorized transportation and recreational plans, and addresses sustainable community planning goals and objectives.

Additionally, the plan provides recommendations on how to successfully implement and maintain the proposed corridor improvements. The TMP takes into consideration the City’s numerous past and on-going planning projects. By incorporating community feedback into the plan, the TMP also recommends facilities in places where people need them the most. The TMP provides San Jacinto a platform as it continues to become a healthier and environmentally friendly community for people to live, work, play and enjoy themselves in.
