Benefit Summary

Maintaining a skilled workforce permits the City to deliver reliable services, safe drinking water, beautiful parks, and well-maintained roads. The City of San Jacinto competes with other municipalities for quality candidates, therefore offers a generous benefit program in order to attract top talent and to retain experienced, knowledgeable employees.  

      Medical, Dental and Vision

The City of San Jacinto offers employees two medical plans, United Healthcare and Kaiser Permanente, both premium HMO plans.  Also offered are two dental plans with Delta Dental (PPO & Delta Care) and Eye Med Vision.  The premiums for medical coverage is covered up to $3,000 per month, dental and vision insurance are covered at 100% of cost.  Benefits for eligible new hires are effective the 1st of the month following date of hire.  This generous benefit program has contributed to our ability to attract and retain the best employees understanding that employee turnover is costly and results in the loss of valuable skills and knowledge.

Health Reimbursement

A $2,000 per fiscal year health reimbursement benefit exists to cover any eligible out-of-pocket costs incurred by our employees or eligible dependents.  Additionally, a $2,000 per fiscal year reimbursement benefit is provided to cover any eligible out of pocket costs incurred if an employee or dependent are hospitalized.

Life, Disability, AD&D

The City maintains a basic term life insurance policy for each employee, as well as short-term and long-term disability, and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) plans.  Employees may choose to purchase and pay for supplemental life, disability, & AD&D insurance utilizing convenient paycheck deductions.  There are also five AFLAC plans in which employees may choose to enroll. 

Paid Time Off

The City recognizes that employees need time off to rest and refresh, and to spend time with family therefore it offers paid vacation, sick, and other paid leave time.  Family PhotoSpecific time off allowances, along with terms and conditions, are detailed in the memorandums of understanding.


Employees who work for the City receive 11 paid holidays and 2 floating holidays per fiscal year.

Tuition Reimbursement 

Education and achievement is highly valued and is a important part of our culture. Employees are encouraged to pursue higher education, professional certifications, and training which result in better organizational and individual performance. The City's $7,500 per fiscal year tuition reimbursement plan makes a college education possible for many of our employees. 


Employees working for the City of San Jacinto are members of the California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS). Those who are hired from other agencies may be eligible for the CalPERS Classic Tier 2 (2% @ 55) membership. Employees who are new to the CalPERS systems may be eligible for a PEPRA membership (2% @ 62). They City contributes 6.985% and the employee contributes 6.75 % to this plan.

457 Plans  

In addition to the CalPERS Retirement System, the City offers two different 457 deferred compensation plan into which employees may elect to defer income for retirement purposes including CalPERS, and MissionSquare.

Credit Union

Altura Credit Union provides a wide variety of excellent financial services to City employees including credit building programs, VIP checking, discounted loans, and mortgage services.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

Employees have access to various services through the City's EAP such as 24-hour confidential telephone support with counselors specializing in areas such as grief, stress, anxiety, depression, and substance abuse. Other services provided by the EAP include assistance locating child care, pet care, elder care, legal assistance, estate planning, financial planning, creating household budgets, and concierge services.

Other Benefits

Other ancillary, low cost employee benefits are available such as travel insurance, discount legal service, estate planning, debt management, and funeral planning services.
